Meet the whaa??? Meet the Makers is an event that focuses on cutting edge online audio and video technology. We have keynote speakers, demonstrations and panels that take a jump with you down the rabbit hole of online video.
Our goal is to bring together all relevant people to exchange ideas and get inspired by state-of-the-art technology in the world of online video. We have sessions, focusing on the future of broadcasting, vertical video and streaming. Speak of the devil! We are streaming the whole event with a live chat so you can ask your questions.

Gaming related content: How RTBF engages children with 'Roblox' and Gaming Content by Charly Dutat

In this session, you will discover how RTBF makes streaming/gaming related content interesting for children. RTBF created an avatar within the metaverse "Roblox" and use YouTube to engage kids on "gaming" content. As attention in "Roblox" grows, their approach is becoming increasingly important.

Simon Pircher (RedBull), Patrick Knopjes (Mediahuis/AgnoPlay) and Sacha Lagrilliere (Yle) show us what they have been working on.

Vertical video: Broadcasters and vertical video

Where do we stand as broadcasters on vertical video? What are the challenges we face and how do we tackle these? A panel discussion between international experts on the vertical topic! We proudly present you our panel:

  • Joris Wijnen (NPO): Online editor of Zapp, the NPO brand for children. Joris experimented with short form video on TikTok for youngsters between the ages of 10 and 16, and shares his strategy for the platform. His work was nominated for an NPO innovation award in 2021.
  • Anna Metzentin (ARD Tagesschau): Anna is reporter for the most successful news platform on TikTok with nearly 1 million followers and will highlight their practical video production techniques, from storytelling to distribution.
  • Eirik Tufteland (NRK): As a journalist, Eirik is working on new ways to present NRK news to a younger audience between the age of 13 and 24. Their Snapchat discover edition reaches more than 220k followers, a sizable impact for a somewhat small country like Norway.
  • Kirsty Drain (BBC): Kirsty is senior producer from BBC The Social, an award-winning digital platform based in Glasgow that stimulates creative new talent. Kirsty will be focusing on 4x5 video for Facebook and Insta feeds.
